Balme Story

Local Squash Phenom Triumphs in National Tournament

In a dazzling display of skill and determination, Andrew Balme, hailing from Seattle, WA and local member of the Seattle Athletic Club, has emerged victorious in the prestigious U.S. Men’s Masters Nationals Singles Tournament held in Philadelphia in April.

The tournament, which celebrated a 112-year history and gathered the nation's most talented squash players, witnessed an outstanding performance from Andy.  Remarkably, he battled through each round without dropping a single game.  We are certain he displayed his usual remarkable precision and finesse on the court while capturing the hearts of spectators and fellow competitors alike.

This special achievement marks a significant milestone in Andy's squash career, after coming up just short in the finals of the National Masters in 2022 and 2023.

Also participating in the event were local legends Karen Arango (Women’s 55+) and Ali Piyarali (Men’s 60+.)

For those of you who don’t know Andy, he is originally from England and started at the Seattle Athletic Club (Downtown) in 2021 when he moved to Seattle.  You will frequently find him exchanging smiles with one of his young twin children after another great day at the SAC!

Let’s congratulate Andy for not only making his mark on the national squash scene but for also bringing immense pride and joy to the local Seattle Squash community. This remarkable achievement serves as an inspiration to aspiring squash athletes throughout our beloved Puget Sound area, proving that with hard work, dedication, and passion, anything is possible.
