Howe Cup 2019 Hosted in Seattle

Seattle hosted the 2019 Howe Cup during November 15-17, the largest squash event for women in the nation. Forty-four teams of five each competed in four divisions. The Cup began in 1928 as an inter-city competition between New York, Philadelphia, and Boston. The permanent trophy was donated in 1955 and named for US Squash Champion Margaret Howe and her twin daughters Peggy and Betty, who were also US Champions.

Howe Cup parties are (in)famous, and this year's was no exception! The theme was "Dress to Impress," and impress they did. Squash player and dance instructor Hallie Kuperman generously provided the venue at her Century Ballroom on Capitol Hill, and squash pro and DJ extraordinaire Annalize Naude quickly got the crowd going wild.

Major thanks to the Seattle planning committee (Amanda Thorman, Annelize Naude, Hallie Kuperman, Julie Santos, Karen Arango, Kathy Nash, Laura Bachman, Lulu Chou and Tatu Murronmaa), the Seattle Athletic Club for making things run so smoothly, and to our local sponsors including Lulu's Hattitudes, Prism Kites, the Zach Santos Band, and the Seattle Squash Racquets Association.
